Advertising Bait and Switch

Some inversion table competitors may make claims that their products are Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) certified, but beware, the UL mark means nothing unless it is clearly marked on the actual product! Other manufacturers have been known to test their inversion tables to UL standards to obtain certification, then simply remove the mark from their products. This gives them the opportunity to employ cost-cutting techniques like using low-quality materials, yet still claim that the product is UL Certified!

A representative from Underwriters Laboratories warns, “A manufacturer has the option of not utilizing the UL Certification Mark on qualified production. If the UL symbol is not displayed on the product, the product is not considered UL Certified and it is not possible for UL to confirm that the product continues to meet the applicable UL safety requirements.”

He goes on to say, “Even though a company’s model number or product designation may appear on UL’s Online Certification Directory on UL.com, the UL Mark on the product is the only method provided by UL to identify products as UL Certified and subjected to UL’s periodic inspections and/or testing.”

In other words, don’t trust a product that is advertised to be UL Certified but does not have the mark on the product itself. It could be a sign of an inferior product!

So Why Do We Need Third-Party Testing?

Third-Party certification is a stamp of approval from a reputable source that a product will work as advertised. Unlike a vast number of consumer products, there are no adequate government regulations for inversion equipment that mandate essential manufacturing standards. Just as the star rating system indicates the protection your car provides, the UL Mark is the only reliable and independent way to verify the safety and quality of an inversion table.

Who is Underwriters Laboratories (UL)?

With over 120 years of experience, UL is one of the premier and most respected third-party certifiers in the country. It certifies, validates, tests, verifies, inspects, and audits products to meet exacting standards, not only to advise manufacturers to create safer products but also to educate consumers about product safety and quality. Teeter exceeds safety and quality standards set by UL – and you can verify this because you’ll find the UL mark on every one of our inversion tables.
