“As a lifelong insomniac, I've tried everything for faster and better sleep, and hanging upside-down on a Teeter is one of the critical few that make the cut.”

How Does Teeter Inversion Work?

Unlike any other stretch you can do on your own, the Teeter elongates your body and relaxes tense muscles, opening up the space between each vertebrae to take the pressure off the nerves. Less pressure means less pain.

Because the Teeter uses your own body weight and gravity to create the “traction”, your spine is decompressed by the same load that compresses those joints when you’re upright. That means you get just the right amount of stretch for you.

Less pressure, less pain. A study1 showed that pressure inside the disc could be reduced to at or near zero by applying a traction force equal to about 60% of your body weight – which is roughly equivalent to 60 degrees of inversion on a Teeter. Using a Teeter is a gentle, passive way to target pain at the source and care for weight-bearing joints.

60 degrees to improve muscle mass. An 8-week low back pain study2 compared treatment in supine (0 degrees) and inverted positions (30 and 60 degrees). While both inverted angles proved more beneficial to patients than just lying down, a routine program of inverting to 60 degrees produced the most effective results in not only reducing back pain, stiffness, and flexibility… but also improving muscle mass in the lower back area.

  • Benefits of inversion start at a mere 30 degrees
  • Routinely inverting to 60 degrees produces the most effective results in reducing back pain and stiffness, and improving flexibility and muscle mass in the lower back.

It’s Easy to Do!

Set your height. Lock in. Recline and relax.

Workout, Recover and Repeat

Back and joint pain is an inevitable side effect of working out on a regular basis. While no one would ever suggest to give up working out, pre- and post-exercise recovery is just as important to reduce the chance of activity-related aches, pain, and injuries.

In a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, researchers noted that the spine is more vulnerable to injury in the evening since the discs have already lost considerable height due to normal daily compression and moisture loss. They indicated that a pre-workout routine of inverted decompression is advisable to ensure that discs are supple and hydrated for adequate flexibility and shock absorption during exercise, helping to prevent excessive compression and pain during and post-workout.

Furthermore, the same study looked at how weight training and running loaded the spine and found that post-exercise height loss exceeded the normal range by 18%!  During exercise, the spine is subjected to a variety of forces, including gravity, changes in motion, and muscle activity. Decompress on a Teeter post-workout to reduce the downside of exercise by rehydrating discs, stretching and elongating the body, and helping to flush lactic acid out of tense, tired muscles.

A pre-workout inversion routine increases flexibility and shock absorption, preventing excessive compression & pain during the workout.

  • Post-Workout Inversion

Post-workout inversion reduces the impact of forces during exercise by rehydrating discs, stretching & elongating the body, and helping to flush toxins out of tense, tired muscles.
