Just like you would find on certain cable/resistance machines at the gym, the numbers on the Resistance Display do not correlate to weight in pounds. The dial displays resistance levels ranging from 1-24. The higher the number, the more resistance is applied to the cable. At setting 24, the resistance is approximately 65 lb. So just like in the gym, you would note your setting during each exercise and then work to increase that setting for that particular exercise. However, unlike cable machines at the gym, the resistance change is continuous as you turn the dial, so you are able to make more gradual gains as you get stronger, rather than being forced to jump at 5 lb. increments which can be too difficult and inhibit progress. It’s also important to note that due to the nature of the resistance mechanism, the full load of resistance is applied whether using one or two cables, so you can effectively halve your resistance at a particular setting by using two cables instead of one.
