Position Overview
We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented Accounts Receivable, Payroll & HR Specialist to join our accounting team. This is a hands-on role that combines accounting, payroll, and human resources administration, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and wants to play an important role in the day-to-day operations of the business.
You’ll be responsible for leading our accounts receivable function, processing payroll, supporting employee onboarding and HR administration, and assisting the Controller with general ledger accounting and month-end close. This position works primarily in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, with payroll processed through Paylocity.
We’re also looking for someone who enjoys improving processes. Experience with accounts receivable automation, workflow improvements, or AI tools that increase efficiency is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable
- Manage customer accounts receivable transactions.
- Process and reconcile complex remittances from major online and brick-and-mortar retailers, including deductions, chargebacks, short payments, and payment variances.
- Maintain and support automated accounts receivable workflows, including invoicing, payment application, customer communications, and collection processes.
- Monitor automated processes for accuracy, troubleshoot exceptions, and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
- Apply customer payments and maintain accurate customer account balances.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on past-due accounts.
- Research and resolve customer billing and payment discrepancies.
- Complete accounts receivable reconciliations, month-end close activities, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Controller and internal teams to improve the efficiency and accuracy of accounts receivable processes.
Payroll & Human Resources Administration
- Process accurate and timely payroll using Paylocity.
- Maintain payroll records, employee deductions, benefits, and paid time off balances.
- Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding.
- Maintain organized and confidential personnel files.
- Support employee benefits administration and routine HR activities.
- Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and company policies.
General Ledger & Accounting Support
- Assist the Controller with daily accounting activities and month-end close.
- Prepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger accounts.
- Review transactions for proper coding, documentation, and approvals.
- Assist with accruals, account analysis, financial reporting, and audit support.
- Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate accounting records within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Assist with special projects, system improvements, and accounting automation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in accounts receivable, payroll, human resources, general ledger accounting, or a related accounting role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month-end close procedures.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or another ERP system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet recurring deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with payroll and employee information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the Controller and other departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting both accounting and human resources functions.
- Experience processing payroll using Paylocity.
- Experience administering employee benefits.
- Experience reconciling complex remittances from major online and brick-and-mortar retailers.
- Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Familiarity with AI, workflow automation, or accounting automation tools.
- Experience using technology to improve accounts receivable, reconciliations, reporting, or other accounting processes.
